Film, music and theatre coming to Vue Exeter this April
This April, Vue Exeter continue to boast an eclectic roster of Big Screen Events, dedicating screen-time to theatrical debuts for popstars, a return to the big screen for Peppa Pig, and shows by the national theatre.
Coming to Vue on Thursday 11th April is Ivo van Hove’s National Theatre reproduction of 1950 Twentieth Century Fox production, All About Eve. Through Gillian Anderson’s portrayal of Margo Channing, van Hove explores society’s intrigue with celebrity, youth and identity. True star of the theatre and sole occupant of the limelight, Margo must cope with the rise of the new-girl-on-the-block, Eve, who begins to reach for Channing’s mantle. NT Live: All About Eve is a production that exposes the potent jealousy and ambition underlying a world of fame.
On Wednesday 3rd April, Khalid offers fans a greater insight into his latest musical project as his 30-minute mini-film, Khalid: Free Spirit is screened. Written by and starring Khalid, the film is a direct creative parallel to his upcoming album and illuminates the popstar’s thoughts on urban life, perceptions, challenges and friendships. True Khalid fans will revel in the news that the screening will double-up as an exclusive preview of the Free Spirit album, as not only is the music incorporated as part of the film’s soundtrack, but an exclusive listening party will follow the show, playing the full album before its release.
Also this month, parents and children will be excited by Peppa Pig’s Festival of Fun, coming to Vue on Friday 5th April. Featuring ten never-before-seen episodes as well as a two-part festival special, the show delivers an interactive experience for the audience that promises fun. Younger viewers can look forward to participating with songs and activities, as Peppa and her brother George splash in the mud at a festival and go to visit the cinema themselves.
Johnny Carr, Event Cinema Manager at Vue UK and Ireland, commented: “We’re really excited to bring such a diverse and accessible range of shows to Vue this April – there’s truly something for everyone. The range doesn’t just accommodate different age groups, but satisfies different tastes and interests too – from engaging children’s characters, to national theatre productions and even exclusive listening parties for chart-topping popstars.”
