Flying carpets spotted over Silverton… as the exotic east arrives with Aladdin!
A TIMELESS tale of love set in exotic ancient China is coming to Silverton this February half-term as Aladdin swops the 55B bus to ride in on his magic carpet!
The Mid Devon village will be transformed into enchanting old Peking fit for a beautiful princess, a dastardly uncle, a clever genie and love-struck Aladdin in this family-favourite pantomime – the first to be staged in the village for almost 30 years!
Staged by the Silverton Luvvies, this modern take on a time-less classic promises laughs, love, intrigue and, er, two idiotic policemen!
Director Portia Smith said: “Silverton is ready for our first pantomime production in many years and what could be better than Aladdin – it has everything you want. Fun, evil, treachery and love, all set to the backdrop of exotic ancient China and Egypt.
“This will be a great family performance for all and promises plenty of laughs, a few shocks and some wonderful sing-a-long songs.”
The pantomime is being staged in the village’s Community Hall on February 21-23 – Thursday, Friday and Saturday of Half Term - in the evening, with a Saturday matinee show. There will be a bar and snacks.
Where: Silverton Community Hall
When: February 21, 22 and 23 at 7.30pm; Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
