Get ready for Strictly Fever to hit our TV screens this weekend

Having met the celebrities and their gem-clad professional dancers three weeks ago, Strictly mega-fans will be glued to their TV screens this weekend (Friday 9pm, Saturday 7pm) to see how the pairings have been getting on in training. Who will show star potential and who will bear the brunt of Craig Revel Horwood's sardonic tongue?

Here is our amateur rundown of the celebrities and their glitterball-raising potential...

Ashley Taylor Dawson and Ola Jordan

Ashley will be feeling more than first-night nerves as he awaits the birth of his new baby. He's got the look, and he will be more than comfortable with the performance element demanded by the judges, but does he have the moves? Quite possibly, and if anyone can perfect his shimmies and shakes it will be the Strictly Champion from 2009 Ola.

Ashley and Ola will be dancing the cha cha to What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction.

Mark Benton and Iveta Lukosiute

Actor Mark Benton has starred in ITV's Britannia High and as maths teacher Daniel Chalk in BBC's Waterloo Road. Now Mark is hoping to be schooled in the ways of ballroom as he steps into the world of Strictly Come Dancing. The tango will probably suit Mark quite well, as he can bring drama and passion to the performance. Posture is the key to his success, so we wish him luck.

Mark and Iveta will be dancing the tango to Hernando’s Hideaway by Alma Cogan.

Susanna Reid and Kevin Clifton

Breakfast presenter Susanna Reid has Strictly form, not only is she a celebrity fan of the show, but in 2011 she shimmied her way on to the set in a special routine for Children In Need as part of a troupe of BBC news readers. And the experience shows, as she bops around the training room. But has Kevin given her more than she can manage with the fast-paced jive to shake her tailfeathers to? We hope not.

Susannah and Kevin will dance the jive to Shake Your Tailfeather by Blues Brothers.

Natalie Gumede and Artem Chigvintsev

Natalie is best known for portraying Kirsty Soames in Coronation Street, a role which saw her at the centre of one of the soap’s most gripping storylines as the abusive fiancée of Tyrone Dobbs. Having won Best Newcomer and Best Storyline at The British Soap Awards in 2012 and 2013 respectively, Natalie left the cobbled streets of Weatherfield in April. Will she be able to build on this success by dazzling the strictly judges? She certainly has the potential to go all the way to the final.

Natalie and Artem will be dancing the cha cha to Rasputin by Boney M.

Tony Jacklin and Aliona Vilani

Tony Jacklin is one of the most successful British golfers of all time with twenty-seven tournament wins under his soon-to-be sequinned belt and is the most successful European Ryder Cup captain ever. His is a well-earned place in the World Golf Hall of Fame! As long as Tony doesn’t get a four from Len, Bruno, Craig and Darcey he should find his form on the Strictly dance floor.

Tony and Aliona will be dancing the waltz to What’ll I Do by Alison Krauss.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Brendan Cole

At the start of Strictly, Sophie is our hot tip for Strictly Champion 2013. She has all the makings of a winner. Multi-platinum selling singer known for her chart hits Murder On the Dancefloor, Take Me Home, Music Gets the Best of Me and Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love), she has solid showbiz roots and is making training look easy with the help of Strictly 'bad boy' Brendan Cole. Definitely one to watch.

Sophie and Brendan will be dancing a waltz to Moon River by Audrey Hepburn.

SATURDAY NIGHT

Abbey Clancy and Aljaž Skorjanec

With her model-trained poise, Abbey is a natural hot prospect for Strictly, and she will undoubtedly cut a fine figure in the many-sequined costumes they have lined up for her, but will she have the grace of Zoe Ball or the fleet foot of Jill Halfpenny? Well she certainly looks at ease in the dance studio, so we have high hopes for her.

Abbey and Aljaz will be dancing a waltz to Kissing You by Des’ree.

Ben Cohen and Kristina Rihanoff

Dubbed the 'David Beckham of rugby' Ben Cohen MBE is the 10th-highest point scorer in England rugby history and third behind Rory Underwood and Will Greenwood in the list of all-time England try scorers. Part of the England Ruby World Cup winning-team in 2003, how will this former winger handle the leap from a scrum to a Samba on Strictly Come Dancing? Well, training room clips show he has some potential if he can get his hips moving, but don't be surprised if there are some less-than-favourable comments about his hands!

Ben and Kristina will be dancing the cha cha to Love Me Again by John Newman

Dave Myers and Karen Hauer

Hairy Biker Dave Myers is set to put down his spatula and put on his spats as he glams it up for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. In 2012 Dave and fellow TV presenter Si lost a considerable amount of weight while making The Hairy Dieters: How to Love Food and Lose Weight. Dave hopes that his appearance on Strictly can help him keep trim whilst showing off his new physique. Training room footage does not reveal a light-footed dance floor dazzler, but we have no doubt that the performance on the night will ooze personality and entertainment value, and you never know, Dave could well be the dark horse of the series.

Dave and Karen will be dancing the cha cha to Moves Like Jagger by Maroon 5.

Deborah Meaden and Robin Windsor

Entrepreneur and business woman Deborah Meaden is striking a Strictly deal this year, branching out from the Dragons' Den and into the world of ballroom dancing. Famed for her straight-talking no-nonsense approach in the Den, will Deborah breathe fire into her dance routines and turn up the heat on the Strictly dance floor? At first glance at her training clips, we suspect possibly not as she is looking rather lost when it comes to which way her head should be turned. However, it is early days and she definitely has the determination to succeed that could see her wow us on the night.

Deborah and Robin will be dancing the tango to Money Money Money by Abba.

Fiona Fullerton and Anton du Beke

Fiona Fullerton has the honour of being Strictly Come Dancing’s first ever Bond Girl contestant. The Nigerian-born actress played KGB temptress Pola Ivanova in 1985’s A View to a Kill where she shared a bubble bath with 007 himself, Roger Moore. We have high hopes for Fiona. She has the poise and grace required of a Strictly champion, but does she have the technique to satisfy the eagle eyes of the judges? Only time will tell.

Fiona and Anton will, fittingly, be dancing the tango to A View To A Kill by Duran Duran.

Julien Macdonald and Janette Manrara

The worlds of ballroom dancing and high fashion have plenty in common - glitz, glamour and mind-blowingly amazing outfits – and now Julien Macdonald, darling of British fashion is bringing his innate style to Strictly Come Dancing. Julien will bring plenty of personality to our TV screens, and judging by the training clips, as long as he can dance without counting along to the music, he shows great potential.

Julien and Janette will be danding the cha cha to Vogue by Madonna.

Patrick Robinson and Anya Garnis

Patrick Robinson is best known as Martin 'Ash' Ashford, one of Casualty’s longest serving and well-loved characters. Whilst Patrick trades in his scrubs for the ruffled shirts of Strictly, here's hoping he doesn't obtain any dance-related injuries during his time on the show as this on-screen doctor hates hospitals. Patrick has some previous dance experience having taken part in Let’s Dance for Comic Relief 2009 where he performed a routine based on Riverdance. However judging by his enthusiasm for performing Patrick could quite well be a contender for the top spot in this year’s show

Patrick and Anya will be dancing the jive to Runaway Baby by Bruno Mars

Rachel Riley and Pasha Kovalev

Best known for presenting both Countdown and The Gadget Show, let's hope the Strictly scoreboard numbers light up for Rachel Riley in 2013 or if not, that she has a gadget up her sleeve! Her training clips show her tentative to start but quickly getting into the swing of things. She is hotly tipped for Strictly success, but is this premature? We will see. Since joining the show two years ago in Series 9, Pasha has twice made it to the Strictly final, so will be keen to see if he can break the cycle and be crowned champion.

Rachel and Pasha will dancing be the waltz to When I Need You, Luther Vandross version.

Vanessa Feltz and James Jordan

Presenting topical chat shows on TV and radio for well for over a decade, Sony Radio Award-winning Vanessa Feltz has been dubbed 'the hardest working woman in broadcasting' due to her weekday radio commitments presenting on both Radio 2 and BBC London 94.9. But in 2013 our Strictly Judges will be looking for less chat chat chat from Vanessa... and more Cha Cha Cha! Whether they will get it is doubtful, but what she will bring to the show is enthusiasm in bucketfuls.

Vanessa and James will dance the cha cha to That Don’t Impress Me Much by Shania Twain.
