Machine Gun Preacher heads to Exeter
Former gangland enforcer, tireless activist and lifelong biker Sam Childers, the ‘Machine Gun Preacher’, is heading to Exeter’s Rediscover Church.
The church will host a special talk with Childers, whose story of redemption has continued to enthral people around the globe.
In 1992 Childers left his life of violence and crime behind him when he converted to Christianity. Since then he has committed his time to helping children displaced by the Second Sudanese War. He is the founder of the non-profit organisation Angels of East Africa and leads the Children’s Village, an orphanage in Southern Sudan that houses and treats children.
Over the years Sam has helped serve 12,000 meals a day and rescued, educated and equipped an estimated 1000 children for a successful future.
Lead Pastor Mark Pugh said; ‘Hearing how the ‘Machine Gun Preacher’ has not only ‘found’ hope but ‘served’ hope to so many people, in one of the most desperate contexts, is such an inspiration. We are sure he will help many people see that no matter how difficult their own lives or circumstances are, that they can find hope as well.’
The talk takes place on the 18th of March at the Rediscover Church in Exeter.
