New Concert series in Exeter
Two local birds have put their heads together and come up with ‘Double Bill’ a collaboration between Cygnet Theatre and Wren Music and follows on from last year’s successful ‘Wren presents . . ' at the Cygnet.
Saturday 21st March sees fiddle legend Tom McConville in concert supported by Wren musician David Faulkner with this long time playing partner Steve Turner.
Tom McConville is a welcome return visitor to the Cygnet, he is one of the leading fiddle players of our time. A virtuoso musician and fantastic singer, his rich and warm voice makes his interpretation of traditional and contemporary songs greatly admired by singers throughout the world.
David Faulkner and Steve Turner are half of the popular folk band The Eel Grinders, a band that is not afraid to meld together elements of classical, traditional and jazz - it moves with grace and style and is like nothing else. David is one of the leading bagpipers in England, and his electric playing is perfectly supported by Steve’s subtle accordion playing.
‘Double Bill’ is a specialist folk programme for the Cygnet Theatre bringing some of the best traditional music performers in the UK and combining with the excellent musicians that make up the Wren team.
The concert promises to be a rich mix of folk song, all in all a great night with a relaxed atmosphere! Bar and refreshments available.
