Stage by Stage theatre arts school is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year- and now it is celebrating in style.

The theatre training school based in the city centre regularly appears in national drama and dance competitions and has now scooped 3 trophies at the All England One Act Play Festival in Dawlish with its production of 'Liar Liar'.

The high energy comedy show earned rave reviews and was awarded Best Actor (adult section) for James Marriott (17), Outstanding Technical Achievement and Best Director for the school's Head of Drama, Ian Trafford.  Ian said, "We are delighted to add these awards to our trophy cabinet!  It's always a challenge to perform away from our home town, but we really won the audience over with the slapstick comedy and the challenge of adapting and staging 'Peer Gynt', which many people consider to be an impossible play to perform!"

Stage by Stage has previously won awards in Teignmouth, Exmouth and even at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.  Ian explains, "Although it's great to perform for family and friends, the real challenge is in winning over audiences who know nothing about us."

The show can now be seen at Stage Studios 22- 25 March before the students, aged 12- 19, move on to their next challenge!
