Over 30 acts booked for Lapstock
Music at the Mill will showcase local young talent
The 12th annual Lapstock Music Festival will feature over 30 acts on three stages over two days including an evening that will showcase some of the best young performers in Devon.
Located in mid-Devon at Lapford’s historic Mill on the River Yeo, the family oriented not-for-profit festival boasts both top-rate professional bands and performers as well as a range of activities for all to enjoy including drumming and didgeridoo workshops, children's storytelling, yoga, sculpture, jewellery making, a forest school and street food.
Music at the Mill will once again be headlined by the truly incredible Glastonbury veterans, Tankus the Henge while other performers include Ska band Skata Tones, bluesy Hip Route, Celtic rock band Hannah and Trefoil and Cornish Ceilidh sensation Jonah’s Lift. Bude based singer songwriter, Alyssa Wint will be among the eight emerging local talent acts who will feature on Lapstock’s Friday night programme. Lapstock started when a small group of local musicians decided to put on a music festival for their village of Lapford and its success has seen it grow year on year helped by a big team of enthusiastic volunteers and followers.
Festival Director, Steve Keable said: “Our small festival caters for some fifteen hundred people across the last weekend in July. Friday night specialises in local up-coming musicians with the opportunity to play in front of a big crowd. Saturday is full-on music on three stages including local bands and great festival acts from further afield. Beyond our music there are two arenas of colourful traders with "let’s try" workshops, and events.
“Ticket prices are affordable as possible with the festival run by the community for the community. By reputation Lapstock attracts the best musicians who perform to an appreciative audience, with superb quality of sound in a great setting.
“Lapstock supports Devon Air Ambulance as well as local producers including especially chosen local real ales, ciders and food. Lapstock. Music at the Mill, takes place over the weekend of July 27/28 at the Mill in Lapford near Crediton.
