Armed Forces Day
Saturday, 11am, Exeter City Centre
The Lord Mayor of Exeter and the Lord Lieutenant of Devon will be "raising the flag" at Exeter Guildhall at 11am to show support for the country's military community, retired and serving, at home and abroad including the cadet forces. The ceremony will mark the start of a grand parade through the city by representatives from all the armed forces accompanied by the Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines, The Band of 6 Rifles, and The Corps of Drums from the Devon Army Cadet Force. From noon there will be a free programme of military music and displays on the Cathedral Green culminating in the spectacular 'Beating Retreat'.

Gallery 21 Exhibition: Wasted

This exhibition explores the life-giving potential of ‘discarded’ body parts and their relationship to myths, history, cutting edge stem cell research and notions of what constitutes informed consent. The art works are sculptural, incorporating milk teeth donated by children and bones and fat from living, consenting donors. Catrin Webster: Live Abstractions

The works collected in this exhibition are the outcome of artist Catrin Webster’s Leverhulme Trust-funded residency in the Department of Geography at the University of Exeter, 2012-13. Open Monday to Friday, 8.30pm-5.30pm, the exhibition runs until 9 July.
