For the third year running, an increasing number of eateries have come together to organise their own special event or promotion in June for Devon Restaurant Month, to raise awareness of Devon's award-winning food.

Events for 2014 include 2-4-1 dining, a Pudding Club, a Devon Crab and Lobster night, special tasting menus and afternoon teas.

Commenting on the campaign, Plymouth-based chef and TV presenter Chris Tanner said: "The Devon Restaurant Month initiative is a first-class opportunity for us all to shout about Devon and its 'larder on our doorstep'. The passion and commitment from our producers is infectious. Devon offers stunning culinary delights, coupled with passionate chefs and operators – definitely something worth promoting and celebrating. We are extremely proud to be a part of this."

Organisations including Food & Drink Devon, Taste of the West, Visit Devon, Heart of Devon and Destination Plymouth are also on board. Founder and organiser of Devon Restaurant Month, Jeff Cooper said: “Now in its third year, we’re overwhelmed by the interest and support that we've received from across the county. Over 40 events have taken part and this number grows each year.”

Jeff added: "Devon has some of the best restaurants, food and drink and talented chefs in the Westcountry and this campaign is about celebrating this and shouting about it."

Events taking place in Exeter and the surrounding area include:

  • Free Dessert with a Hot Main Course at Reed Hall in Exeter
  • Scandinavian Afternoon Tea at the Magdalen Chapter in Exeter
  • Summer Garden Tour and Lunch at Combe House Devon, near Honition
  • Lunch Club at the Swan Inn in Lympstone
