For the second year running Killerton estate is proudly showcasing its award-winning cider to thirsty visitors at the 10th Festival of South West Food & Drink on 26-28 April. The annual local produce event is held right in the centre of Exeter attracting over 15,000 visits over three days.

This year, Killerton is supplying the Festival bars with its medium dry cider alongside some of the South West region’s esteemed local drink producers. As well as being a great beverage, Killerton’s cider also makes for a great ingredient and will feature in live cookery demonstrations in the Festival Cookery Theatre. Celebrity chef Michael Caines is headlining and hosts an all-star line-up of the best chefs from the South West who will be demonstrating their culinary talent using the best locally produced ingredients.

After the demos, festival-goers can enjoy free tasters of Killerton cider and if they pick up a flyer from the cookery theatre, they will also receive a complimentary bottle to take home when they visit Killerton before the end of May.

Helen Trebble from Killerton’s Countryside Team said: "We love the buzz of the festival and being able to share the fantastic story behind our cider. There is a long history of cider-making on the Killerton estate and this heritage is kept alive by volunteers and the local community who pitch in annually to help us harvest 50 acres of orchards and press tonnes of apples using a giant 200 year old hand-cranked cider press. The profits we make are invested back into conserving Killerton’s landscape and historic buildings."

Last year, Killerton cider won the silver Taste of the West Award and scooped its sixth National Trust Fine Farm Produce Award. Gillian Carter, Editor of BBC Good Food described it as ‘stunning looking with a fantastic flavour, very different from commercial cider.’

Killerton cider will be on sale by the glass from the Festival bars throughout the event and can also be purchased by the bottle from Killerton’s shop every day from 11am to 5.30pm.
