Devon Coffee, the new speciality coffee shop in Queen Street, Exeter, has been included in The Independent's Top 50 Coffee Shops. Maxwell Colonna-Dashwood, one of the judges and the UK Barista champion/owner of Colonna & Smalls, called Coffee Devon: “A classic independent coffee shop in the centre of Exeter. High quality coffee and bites delivered with warm and friendly service.”

The small and quirky outlet has gained an instant following because of its unique style and focus on quality coffee served by experienced baristas.

Owner Steve Pearson says that he's passionate about good coffee and friendly service and hopes to gain a reputation for both. "The shop offers a choice of espresso and filter coffee, both made from top quality beans supplied by artisan coffee roasters based in the South West. We also make fresh food on the premises including cakes, sandwiches and hearty soups every day for our customers to enjoy here or to takeaway.

"Our most popular drink is probably the flat white, where we prepare a double espresso ristretto and blend with silky smooth, flat milk. We're proud to use local milk where we pay a little more to get lovely organic whole milk produced only 5 miles from the shop at Ashclyst Dairy Farm, Broadclyst.

"We like to be the daily pit stop for regular customers and have gotten to know many by name. We often get asked for advice on coffee and offer a range of brewing equipment and freshly roasted coffee to purchase.

"This will inevitably lead to some coffee courses that we intend to offer later in the year, but until then, please call in and say hi, we've always got something new for you to try."

Devon Coffee is open daily 8am - 6pm (Sundays 10am - 4pm).
