Fun and affordable fitness classes in Exeter
Two Exeter parents have joined forces to provide fun and affordable exercise classes for children and adults of all fitness levels.
From baby ballet to kickboxing, from karate to tap dance, there is an activity on offer at the DanSci studio for anyone with a desire to get fit.
Tim Anderson of UK Martial Arts & Fitness has moved his kickboxing, karate and weapons classes and gym to the spacious, air conditioned DanSci studio headed up by Ava Barron Thomas.
Black belt Tim has been a martial arts fitness instructor for 8 years. He said that both Ava and he were passionate about enabling people to meet their fitness goals without breaking the bank.
“Our friendly and welcoming classes enable children and adults to get fitter while having fun,” he said. “Men and women of all ages, fitness levels and abilities regularly train together in our energetic classes.”
The dad of two said he was particularly interested in introducing children to the benefits of a healthy lifestyle from a young age.
“Our karate lessons are taught in a fun and relaxed manner but the classes are structured to ensure discipline and respect are instilled helping to create a great learning environment for all children attending,” he said.
Mum of three and former professional dancer Ava concurred. “Worryingly, Devon has higher childhood obesity figures for reception-aged children than the national average.
“We believe it is important to promote the health benefits of exercise to every child and parent and that the children of Exeter have access to great classes which are well taught and structured for their age in a caring and non-competitive environment.”
And the pair are so keen to spread the word about the wide range of classes on offer that they are offering the first lesson of any class for free to enable adults and children alike to give a new activity a go.
