Festive streets names in the South West can add more than £133,000!
From Christmas Lane, Elf Meadow and Winter Close, it seems that Christmas is here to stay for more than 12 days of the year, as the UK is home to some of the most festive street names.
With more than 170 festive streets around the UK, what better way to spread some merriness and joy than to reveal the Christmas-related street names that add the most value to your home. HeatingForce.co.uk trawled through Zoopla and Streetlist, scanning every Christmas word variation to discover not only the festive names with the most added value, but also where in the UK such roads can be found.
The festive street names that are most valuable
HeatingForce can reveal that Christmas-themed streets can boost property prices by £37,640!
It turns out if you live on a street with the name ‘Snow’ included, your house value could be bagging a few extra pounds with the average house price on these streets valued at £624,954. This is more than twice the value of an average UK home which is £309,804.
‘Toy’ related street names rank next. Despite only 4 road names of this kind in the UK, houses located here were found to be valued at a staggering £239,738 more than the UK average. When compared to each street’s respective regional average, the difference is even greater reaching nearly £300,000.
‘Stocking’ places third, with properties on average in the UK valued at £528,119 on streets containing this word. If your home is lucky enough to feature in one of the 15 streets with this festive name, then you could see an added increase of £212,969 compared to the UK average.
The festive street names that decrease value
Who would have thought ‘Presents’ were unlucky, but HeatingForce found that homes located on a street with ‘presents’ as part of the street name will be valued more than £145,000 less than the average UK property price.
Although there are 77 incidents of ‘Holly’ streets in the UK, homeowners living on such streets will see the second lowest value depreciation of £140,098.
Considering there are just four ‘Reindeer’ themed roads in the UK, homeowners can have their home devalued by an average of nearly £100,000 (£97,458).
The most festive regions that are most valuable
The East of England is the place to be if you want to benefit from the most added value, increasing your home’s value by £211,131, for the 17 festive streets found in this region, in comparison to the average house price for the UK.
HeatingForce.co.uk can reveal that following in second place with an added value of £177,102 is the South East – with 22 Christmas street-related names; second highest across the UK.
The most festive regions that are least valuable
In last place is Wales. Homeowners can expect to see a deduction of roughly £206,465 for just four festive street names analysed.
Scotland ranks next with also four festive street names, devaluing properties by more than £177,000.
The North West has the largest number of festive streets with 29. Unfortunately, homeowners with properties on festive street names in this region will see their homes valued at £1,546 less than the average house price for the UK.
Which regions have the most festive street names?
Out of a possible 172 festive street names in the UK, 29 reside in the North West. ‘Holly’ is rather popular in this region, with Holly Avenue (6) and Holly Street (13) most prevalent.
In second place is the South East with 22 Christmas-related streets, and in third place is the East Midlands with 21. Similarly, to the North West, ‘Holly’ is the most popular street name moniker with 8.
The North East completes the top five, with 19 festive streets, once again with a staggering 17 ‘Holly’ related roads!
