Make the most of your back yard this socially-distant summer
Living during pandemic times doesn’t mean we have to sit inside all day and night this Summer. In fact, my family has spent most of our time in our backyard. Making your backyard your own oasis is important this Summer so you can enjoy it when you can’t go to so many other places. We’ll help you transform your backyard this season.
Patio Game Strong
Give your patio a boost with a nice sitting area complete with a mounted television. Teak is a popular choice when it comes to outdoor furniture. The clean, sleek lines of many fashionable outdoor chairs and sectionals make them look good and perform in almost any weather. If you don’t have a covering over your patio, set up an umbrella for extra shade. The point of the patio is to have a place where you can relax and enjoy the cooler weather in the morning and night. It’s a place of tranquility as well as place where friends can gather to have a drink.
Fire Pit Blaze
Fire pits are easy and fun. Whether you love a gas or wood-burning fire pit, these are a great place to gather around while chatting or roasting smores. Most fire pits easily complement any backyard style. You can set up chairs all around them just like you were on a camping trip. Sit back and enjoy the glow at night. They’re easy to use, so you never have to worry about them getting out of control. Fire pits are one of the most popular items to have in your backyard throughout the year, so you’ll use it once Summer is over as well.
Movie Night
One of the neatest things to do to your backyard is create a multimedia entertainment space. It’s fun to invite friends over or watch a movie with the family on a projection screen with speakers. You can designate an area in the backyard for this little space and put out some cute chairs or blankets for your viewing pleasure.
Outdoor Kitchen
The outdoor kitchen or pizza oven is a huge trend for backyards this year. These are the perfect place to dine outdoors. Bring meals outside with these outdoor kitchens. This takes the usual BBQ up a notch. You can cook and bake whatever you want instead of relying on only the grill.
Lawn Games
Take the games outdoors. Set up cornhole or an old fashioned game of washers. You can even set up jumbo Jenga and dominoes. Make a place in your backyard dedicated to games. Of course, you can always shoot hoops, put out a soccer goal or a volleyball net if you want to incorporate some sports. Make sure you have great lighting for fun that goes well into the moonlight.
Gardening Galore
Gardening is great because it blends pleasure, work and veggies all in one. You get to reap what you sow. You also get to grow your own vegetables in your own backyard. It’s a lot of fun. Gardens are also very pretty so they’re fun to show off to friends. You don’t have to only plant a garden, either. Surround it with a few new trees, shrubs or plants. Remember that your backyard is your blank canvas. The greenery will only enhance it, so don’t be afraid to go green.
Wonders of Water
Even if you don’t have a pool, you can create your own watering hole. All kinds of inflatable and plastic pools are flying off the shelves as people try to entertain themselves without city pools. Water tables are great for little kids. One surprisingly popular trend is the stock tank pool. Set it up with a filter, and you’re good to go. These look cute, and you get to splash around to beat the heat. If you’re not into jumping into the water, set up a water feature. It’ll give you the peaceful effect of hearing water and the visual effect of seeing a pretty feature in your backyard.
