Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) has received £5,000 to help fund a family suite for critically ill or end of life patients at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

The donation was provided by the Santander Foundation which offers grants to UK registered charities for projects that help disadvantaged people in local communities.

ELF provides transport, accommodation and guidance services to families affected by blood cancers and blood disorders. The grant will go towards the charity’s Chevithorne Appeal to enable critically ill and dying patients to spend crucial time with their family and friends.

Alison Upton, Fundraiser at Exeter Leukaemia Fund (pictured) said: “We are thrilled to have this support from the Santander Foundation. The donation will really boost this vital appeal.”

Darren McArdle, Branch Manager at Santander’s Honiton branch, said: “The Santander Foundation makes hundreds of donations every year to good causes throughout the UK. Our branch is committed to playing a key part in the community and we are delighted to be supporting Exeter Leukaemia Fund and hope the donation makes a real difference to local people.”
