“This week we are celebrating Hospiscare Week as a report reveals that UK end of life care is the best in the world, “said Glynis Atherton, Hospiscare chief executive.
“One of the reasons for this is the huge contribution of hospices in the past 50 years. Here at Hospiscare we often receive five star ratings from our patients and their families for the amazing care we give. We are an ambitious organisation and are constantly looking for ways to reach more people.
“As a charity we rely heavily on the support of local people to help fund this care and we are so grateful to you. Please come along to our Bring a £1 Day and help celebrate your local hospice.”
Last year Hospiscare cared for 632 terminally ill Exeter patients and their families, with 473 people being visited in their own homes by Hospiscare nurses and 164 local people were admitted to the hospice.
Pop into Princesshay between 10.30am to 6pm or you can text QUID15£1 to 70070.
It costs £6.1m a year to provide Hospiscare services, with £1.25m funded by the NHS and the rest by fundraising events, community and business support, Hospiscare retail services, grants and gifts in Wills.
Bring a £1 Day takes place during Hospiscare Week Oct 5-11 when the city charity joins in a national celebration of the incredible work carried out by hospices.
