Still time to register for charity Christmas tree collection in Exeter

Residents in Exeter still have time to book a charity collection of their real Christmas tree – and raise money for a great cause at the same time.

The service is being offered by Hospiscare in return for a donation to the charity. The suggested donation is £10 per tree.

People must register for the service by 11.59pm on Sunday 8 January.

Anyone who would like to join Hospiscare’s happy band of volunteer tree collectors can find out more and apply by visiting https://www.hospiscare.co.uk/christmas-tree-recycling-volunteer/

Exeter City Council’s garden waste customers can have their real Christmas trees collected as part of the service in the New Year.

All they have to do is put their tree out for collection with or without their brown bin on the date of their first garden collection of the year. Collections begin again on 23 January.

Visit the City Council website at http://www.exeter.gov.uk/bincollections for specific dates.

Alternatively, trees can be taken to one of Devon County Council’s recycling centres in Exeter – either in Marsh Barton or Pinbrook Road.

Residents are being reminded that they won’t be able to put their real Christmas trees out for normal black bins collections.

Neither is the City Council providing drop-off points for used Christmas trees, so leaving a tree in a public space is considered fly tipping.
