Queen Elizabeth’s Celebrates GCSE Results

Just a week after celebrating strong A Level results, Year 11 students at Queen Elizabeth’s have achieved a brilliant set of GCSE results. Students across the Trust have achieved excellent results and at QE 70% of students have gained a grade 4 or higher in GCSE English and Maths, with 50% achieving a grade 5 or higher in both subjects.

Queen Elizabeth's (QE) is proud to be a community school. Founded in 1559, their values are rooted in their school heritage and ambition to be an exceptional community school that prepares students for their futures.

There were many exceptional results at QE today, including:

Timothy Jillians with ten GCSEs at Grade 9 and one at Grade 8.  Adam Robbins, who achieved eight GCSEs at Grade 9 and four at Grade 8, is going on to study double maths, politics and economics.

Freya Parsons secured seven Grade 9 GCSEs as well as a Grade 8 and Grade 7.  Alexandra Atkins’ results included an impressive Level 2 Distinction in Sports Studies.

Josie Kittredge, who obtained Grades 7-9 across all subjects and will be staying on in QE’s Sixth Form to study maths, further maths, physics and history, said “I’ve really enjoyed my time here and am looking forward to moving into Sixth Form and exploring my options there.”

Paula Smith, Headteacher at Queen Elizabeth’s said:

"Our priority at QE is to ensure that our students gain a broad set of door-opening qualifications to get them onto a path of success for post-16 study and apprenticeships. These results will enable our learners to make a smooth transition and fulfil their aspirations. I’m so proud of all our students, staff and parents and carers. Supporting any student through the rigours of GCSEs is incredibly challenging for everyone involved. It has been a privilege for our staff to join our students and their families celebrating their results this morning.  We hope all students take a moment to reflect on how far they have come. It’s the start of a new and exciting journey. Celebrate your achievements, embrace the opportunities ahead of you, and continue to pursue your passions with the same energy and enthusiasm you have displayed so far. Well done to each and every one of you!"

Alexandra Blagden, Deputy Headteacher for Quality of Education commented:

“We have been so impressed by the determination of our students to do well.  Our team of teachers, pastoral and support staff, and tutors who have been working with these students in school across their five years are all thrilled to see the journey each student has taken and the hard work having paid off. We’re really looking forward to welcoming our students into the Sixth Form in September.”

Moira Marder, Chief Executive Officer of the Ted Wragg Trust said:

“Huge congratulations to everyone collecting results today.  I am incredibly proud of our students' outstanding GCSE results this year.  Their achievements are a testament to their hard work, resilience, and commitment.

“I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our dedicated teachers and supportive parents, whose unwavering encouragement has been instrumental in these achievements. I am excited to see what our students will accomplish next."

Siobhan Meredith, Executive Director of Education at the Trust praised students for their “ambition and resilience” and noted that “school teams will be working closely with all students in the coming days to ensure they are able to take the next step of their choice, continuing to give them all the support they can towards the next stage of their journey.”
