The Duchess of Cornwall to visit Devon County Show

HRH The Duchess of Cornwall is to attend the first day of the Devon County Show on Thursday 16 May at Westpoint, Exeter.

It will be the Duchess of Cornwall’s third visit to the county’s largest annual event where she will be the guest of The Hon George Lopes, this year’s Show President.

Show Secretary Ollie Allen said: “We are honoured and delighted that Her Royal Highness will be with us this year and will do everything to ensure she enjoys her day.”

The Duchess of Cornwall’s first visit was in 2005, shortly after her marriage to HRH The Prince of Wales and a second visit followed three years later when She served as President of the DCAA.

Ollie added: “We are very much looking forward to showing the Duchess different features and attractions, which bring together thousands of people from all corners of the county who enjoy rural life.”

HRH The Prince of Wales is Patron of the Devon County Agricultural Association.

The Show, now in its 118th year, attracts competitors from Devon and the South West, all anxious to make their mark in the first major South West agricultural Show of the year. Run by a small professional team, it relies on hundreds of volunteers who ensure the biggest event in the county calendar continues to flourish.

The celebration of country living includes magnificent livestock, scrumptious local food and drink, beautiful flowers and gardens and handicrafts. There is also non-stop entertainment in six rings, including the thrills and spills of the Diggerland JCB Stunt Team amongst others.

Advance tickets are on sale now from the showground, tourist information centres and online. New this year are downloadable online tickets which are available to purchase until midnight on Wednesday, May 15.

Once again up to three children (aged 5 to 15) get free admission on Saturday when accompanied by a paying adult and senior citizens are eligible for the buy-one-get-one-free offer on all three days of the Show as long as they buy their tickets in advance.
