1,500 runners take part in Exeter Run or Dye
On Saturday 30th May 1,500 runners took part in the world’s most colourful 5km, running, walking and dancing, filling Great Fulford grounds with colour.
Bringing the spectacular explosion of Run or Dye colour to the beautiful grounds and extensive parkland of the Great Fulford estate, the event saw runners and walkers of all ages and abilities to enjoy the most colourful event Great Fulford has ever seen.
Running, walking and even dancing their way around the course at Great Fulford, participants included students from Exeter University, local schoolchildren and families who were all showered with eco-friendly, plant-based cornstarch dye in a rainbow of colours. Runners and their supporters celebrated their achievement with the world’s most colourful party, the famous Dye Festival with DJ Sam making sure the celebrations kept going. Run or Dye will take place at 14 more events throughout the year across the UK so fans have plenty of opportunity to get involved and take part in an event.
Caroline Creer, Fundraising Director of Devon Air Ambulance Trust said “This event certainly does put the fun into fundraising! Our volunteers and supporters alike had a fantastic rainbow filled time and we hope to have raised an amazing amount of money to help keep Devon’s two Air Ambulances flying.”
Known for the BBC Three reality series, Life is Toff, Great Fulford is one of Devon's most historic houses. Originally a Domesday manor, the house and gardens is home to Francis Fulford and his family, set with extensive parkland, and overlook the stunning Great Lake. The Great Fulford estate extends to over 3,000 acres.
Help for Heroes is the official charity partner and volunteers from the charity and from local charity partner, Devon Air Ambulance Trust covered the runners from head to toe with dye throughout the course as families, friends and colleagues ran and walked together. Wounded Servicemen, women and veterans also took part in the Run or Dye event and will be involved in the rest of the events across the UK to raise vital funds for Help for Heroes.
Inspired by the ancient Hindu festival of Holi, also known as the ‘Festival of Colours’, Run or Dye gives runners, walkers and all speeds in-between, the opportunity to experience and celebrate in full colour the thrill of the Festival and introduce the idea of ‘living life on purpose’. Participants can run dressed in white and run ready or in their favourite and most extravagant costumes.
