ActivAge Expo: healthy living for Devon's young at heart
An exciting programme is being finalised for a packed day of activities at the first ever ActivAge Expo (www.activageshow.co.uk) at Exeter Racecourse on Sunday 31 August.
The Lord Mayor of Exeter is due to open the event, which is aimed at the over 40s and anyone of more mature years who is interested in leading an active and fulfilling life.
It promises to be a fun and informative day, with lots of low-impact exercise routines to try out and ideas for a multitude of interesting pursuits and activities. There will also be finance and travel advice, and fresh ideas for healthy eating and worry-free living.
To start the day, visitors can choose between a lively wake-up session to music or a gentle yoga class. Larger and more energetic activities will be showcased on the marquee stage - these include ping-pong, martial arts, Nordic walking, a number of drumming, dance and sports sessions, and the opportunity to hear local choir “The Courage to Sing” and find out about flying a jet plane!
ActivAge Expo is being organised by Elizabeth Graveley from Umberleigh, herself a pensioner and fitness instructor.
Elizabeth says, “Even moderate physical exercise is good for the mind and body! We want to give our visitors a fantastic experience, trying out sports and activities they may never have considered. In addition, there will be interesting presentations and discussions about finance, food, fitness and legal issues like coping after divorce. We aim to offer something for everyone”.
