Art Theft in Beer
Police are appealing for information after a £2,000 glass ornament was stolen from a gallery in East Devon.
Last Thursday (19 September) between 2.45pm and 3.20pm two men entered The Steam Gallery in Beer and stole a glass ornament valued at £1995.
A witness believes that they spoke with an Essex accent.
The first suspect is described as white, stocky build, around 5’10 – 11ft in height with mid-length, brown hair. He was wearing beige trousers with a blue jumper.
The second was described as white, shorter than the first male, short cropped hear wearing a blue waterproof jacket. He was carrying a hessian bag for life which has ‘BEER’ on the side.
It appears that one suspect distracted the lone shop assistant while the second took the item and left the shop.
The ornament was made by Peter Layton and is the ‘Arrival of Spring ‘collection. A photograph of a similar ornament is pictured.
Anyone with any information is asked to please call police on 101 quoting reference KN/13/428.
