Globally renowned Graffiti artist Banksy said he was ‘blown away’ by art work produced by pupils at a Brighton art school that has recently launched in Lympstone and Exmouth. Bansky, who’s recent murals feature on Ukrainian postage stamps, went on to say that he was ‘wowed’ by the classes and that all the pupils were brilliant and had a bright future in art ahead of them.

Artroom was established in 2008 by former secondary school teachers Sebastian Dewing and Alison Horton and has become the leading provider of art classes for 6 - 16 year-olds in the Brighton and Hove area.

Sebastian, who has recently relocated to Woodbury with his family, said: “Art has the power to transform the lives of children. All of our teaching is carefully structured to create a sense of confidence, early in a project – with children of all abilities. We ‘ve taught over 15,000 young people at our Brighton studio, guiding them on incredible artistic journeys and we’re delighted that our classes have launched in East Devon”

Artroom Devon will offer weekly classes for 6 – 16 year-olds, in Lympstone and Exmouth.

Sebastian went on to say that: “Artroom classes have helped scores of young people gain scholarships to leading independent schools, achieve the highest grades at GCSE and provided children of all abilities with a confidence and lifelong love of a critical subject, all too frequently marginalised in schools. Some of our Year 11 pupils have been coming for nearly 10 years! They enrol and never want to leave!”
