Cartridges Law eyes ambitious future with transition to LLP and new leadership team

Highly regarded Exeter law firm Cartridges Law is pleased to announce its transition to a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP), marking a major milestone in the firm’s 50-year history. This move reflects the firm’s growth, ambition, and long-term commitment to providing high-quality legal services to its clients.

With the transition to LLP status, Cartridges Law has also unveiled a new leadership structure. Nicky Mein, who has been the firm’s Managing Partner for several years, is passing the reins to Victoria Matthews, an experienced litigator who has taken on increasing management responsibilities over the past year. Nicky will now focus on expanding the firm’s highly respected family law practice.

Joining Nicky and Victoria in the partnership are Julie Farmer and Faye Newbery. Julie, who has been with Cartridges Law since 2001, will continue to lead on finances, assuming the role of Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration. Faye, who comes from a not-for-profit management background and joined the firm in 2017, leads the housing and litigation teams. Her role includes managing the South West’s only housing legal aid contract, a vital service.

Nicky Mein commented: “This is an exciting time for Cartridges Law. Our new LLP structure reflects the energy within the firm and our desire to continue growing while staying true to our roots. After managing the firm for several years, I am delighted to focus on developing our family law service, which I have personally missed.”

Founded over five decades ago in St Thomas, Exeter, Cartridges Law has become known for its dedication to access to justice and its prominent role in the local community. The firm remains the only housing legal aid provider in the South West, advocating for those who might otherwise struggle to access legal support. Alongside its legal aid work, Cartridges Law offers a broad range of legal services, including family law, private client, property and civil litigation.

Beyond its legal work, Cartridges Law has always been a proud and active member of its local community, supporting many local organisations and community initiatives. The firm is also recognised for its innovative and inclusive approach to employment, committed to flexible working, inclusive recruitment practices, and supporting career development through apprenticeships and non-traditional paths into law.

As Cartridges Law steps into this new era, the firm remains committed to offering its clients the same high level of service, with a renewed focus on growth and innovation.
