Exe-Arts workshops come to St David's
Superact is pleased to announce their new project Exe-Arts for the St David’s community in Exeter.
Superact is a not for profit arts organisation based at the Exeter Community Centre in St David’s, and from September will be offering community art sessions for all ages in the art rooms of the centre. Superact delivered a pilot for this initiative in March of this year and has now received funding to run a full programme of activity.
The Exe-Arts is a two-part initiative offering a programme of community participatory workshops open to the public, alongside some bespoke project work with groups who live in the St David’s community.
Superact hopes to introduce five to six different art forms for the community to explore in workshops, such as painting, ceramics, graffiti art, photography, and fabric arts. The results of these sessions and the bespoke workshops will be on show at a final festival event before Christmas.
Superact’s Patsy Lang said “We’re really pleased to have received funding for our Exe-Arts Initiative from Exeter City Council Arts Project Funding Programme, BBC Children in Need, and Arts Council England.
"The programme will kick off this autumn with sessions taking place on Wednesday evenings and the first Saturday of the month. Sessions will be open to all ages, so there will be something for everyone to enjoy. We hope people will come along with friends and family, or by yourself and meet new people.”
“The City Council firmly supports the idea that arts and culture can help make a difference in people’s lives and so we are delighted that Exeter’s small arts grants can help deliver a range of creative workshops for all ages from the local community of St David’s,! said Cllr Rosie Denham, Lead Councillor for Economy and Culture.
