An Exeter dentist has become one of the first in the UK to become officially registered as 'safe and qualified' to carry out aesthetic treatments like anti-wrinkle injections.

Pradnya Apte, Clinical Director at revitalise rejuvenate clinic in Exeter, is one of the first aesthetic practitioners in the country to make it onto the Save Face register.

The register, which is the first of its kind in the industry, visits and assesses practitioners to check they are qualified and safe to carry out non-surgical cosmetic treatments. It shares the information with the public to give them peace of mind if booking a treatment.

Only the highest standard of clinics and practitioners become Save Face accredited and appear on the register, which is available for free to anyone at www.saveface.co.uk.

Pradnya Apte, who is also a practising dental surgeon, said: "In the UK anyone can set up an aesthetics practice regardless of their expertise or experience.  I’ve practiced as a dental surgeon for over 20 years which has taught me invaluable knowledge about the anatomy and structure of the face. It’s great that Save Face differentiates experts in their field from other unqualified and unregulated practitioners.

"I’m very proud that revitalise rejuvenate is one of the first clinics in the country to appear on the register.  The Save Face accreditation shows that we are among the very best in the industry and take patient care and safety very seriously.”

Brett Collins, Director of Save Face, said: "The Save Face register is more than just a clinic finder. The register is an essential tool for consumers who are considering non-invasive cosmetic treatment and are concerned with safety. Each clinic and individual practitioner that is accredited has been assessed through a rigorous qualifying process that is approved and over-seen by clinical experts. Their qualifications, training and background have been thoroughly checked and measured against a robust and transparent set of standards to ensure they are safe. Protecting consumers is very important to us and we are proud to be able to offer this register of accredited practitioners.”

Revitalise Rejuvenate is a non-surgical aesthetics clinic specialising in line and wrinkle treatments, skin rejuvenation, skin management and Cryolipolysis (non-surgical liposuction). The Exeter clinic offers wrinkle smoothing injections, dermal fillers, Dermaroller skin management treatments for acne, rosacea, reddening skin and thread veins, non-invasive liposuction and teeth whitening.

The non-surgical cosmetic treatment market is currently worth £2.3 billion to the British economy and is set to increase to £3.6 billion by 2015.

The Save Face register is only open to registered doctors, dentists and nurses who can demonstrate that they are insured and have received certified training. All premises are inspected. Practitioners must operate to best practice standards and have policies and procedures that demonstrate this. Save Face works with practitioners to help develop policies and improve standards across the industry.

Save Face also offers patients independent and unbiased information on non-surgical cosmetic treatments on its website www.saveface.co.uk.
