Exeter police donate festive treats to Age UK
Officers and staff in Exeter have been getting in the festive spirit by donating boxes full of Christmas goodies to elderly people this Christmas.
PC Chris Pusey started a Christmas collection at Heavitree Road police station in November.
Donations of food, drink and Christmas gifts came flooding in from officers and staff from the station and the police control room.
On Monday 15 December PC Pusey delivered 15 large boxes full of goodies to Kath at Age UK in Cowick Street (pictured).
Age UK will create hampers with the items, including bottles of champagne, chocolates, tins of soup and jigsaw puzzles, and give them to vulnerable elderly people over the holiday period.
PC Pusey, based in Heavitree Road police station, said: “I joined this job to help people, and when things are difficult for older people, especially at Christmas, I thought if we could all give a small contribution it would make the season a little bit more enjoyable for them.”
Inspector Julian Pezzani, Geographic Support Inspector, said: “The officers and staff in Exeter have shown their true spirit of Christmas.
“All departments based at Heavitree Road took part, along with staff from the control room.
“Some people donated personally, whereas others made a joint effort. One department cashed in their tea fund to buy as many items as they could.
“Age UK are a great charity, and we hope this makes some difference to the lives of vulnerable people in our community.”
