Exeter teenager attacked after Ottery tar barrels event

Police have reported that a 16-year-old girl from Exeter was savagely beaten in Ottery St Mary following the recent tar barrels event on Monday 5th November.

The girl is said to have been involved in an altercation with a group of females earlier in the evening, and was grabbed from behind by a male while she was taking a shortcut near Broad Street. The male, who it seems was a stranger to her, covered her mouth and eyes and then pushed her to the ground and kicked in the head and back. He was then joined by a group of females who continued kicking her until she started coughing up blood, when the attackers ran away. She was then taken to hospital, where she was kept in for a few nights.

Her attackers are described as aged between 30 and 40. The male is described as being of a muscular build, at least six ft tall and wearing a long-sleeved top. One of the females had a gruff voice.
