An Exeter man will take part in a brand new ITV quiz show today.

Presented by Gethin Jones, The 21St Question is a bold new ITV quiz show featuring exactly 21 questions.

The game sees 11 contestants compete in “winner stays on” rounds which test the strategy and wits of players to the limit. The aim? To get onto the power spot and control the game. However, only one of the players will successfully fend off all the competition, and whoever is left standing faces a chance to win big – provided they can answer The 21St Question.

Today is Samy Ali’s chance to take to the Power Spot.

The 23-year-old security guard from Exeter is set to face ten contestants in a bid to win up to £40k. But has he got what it takes to keep his cool, take control and answer Gethin’s all-important 21st Question?

An avid Disney fan and ex Badminton player, Ali is currently studying history with the hope of becoming a history teacher. During his time in the army, he was often positioned outside Buckingham Palace and was even responsible for guarding Prince Charles, William and Harry.

Having visited every continent in the world including Antarctica, he is confident with his geography but you’ll have to stay tuned to see how he fares on his sport…

Gethin Jones said: “I'm delighted to be part of this exciting new show for ITV. The game plays out in so many different ways and is sure to keep everyone guessing until I ask The 21st Question."

The 21st Question starts on 4 August at 5pm on ITV. The 10x60 show was commissioned by Director of ITV Daytime, Helen Warner, and is executive produced by David Mortimer, Senior Vice President of Factual & Entertainment, NBCUniversal International Television Production, and Alan Brown, Creative Director, Chocolate Media.
