Fatal car accident in South Molton

A car accident that took place on the A361, just North of South Molton, earlier today has resulted in a member of the public being pronounced dead at the scene

The incident, involving two vehicles, also resulted in two other casualties being air lifted to hospital with serious injuries.

Police and other emergency services attended the scene, with the accident believed to have taken place at 11am.

The road is expected to be closed for some time whilst the thorough police investigation takes place.

The A361 North Devon Link Road, South Molton, is closed  both ways between B3227 and A39 Eastern Avenue.

The road closure is causing slow traffic in both the South Molton and Portmoor roundabout in Barnstaple. 

Diversions are in place and being managed by the Highways agency.

Police are appealing for witnesses to call 101 and quote log number 351 of the 14th June 2014.
