Firefighers were called to a house in Pinhoe, Exeter shortly after 7pm yesterday.

One fire appliance from Middlemoor and two fire appliances from Danes Castle were sent to a report of a fire in the dining room of a house in Hummingbird Close.

A spokesman for Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service said the curtains and carpet were severely damaged by smoke and lightly damaged by heat.

Fire crews used breathing apparatus, one safety jet, one covering jet, one hose reel jet, a positive pressure ventilation fan and thermal image camera to deal with the incident.
