ugandabox is an exciting new Devon project set up this summer.  It has sent over 150 kilos of kids and babies clothing, blankets, medical supplies and toys from East Devon families over to a children's crisis centre called Potter's Village in Uganda.

ugandabox's founder, Esther Apsey has close connections with Potters Village, as her Aunty and Uncle, Sue and Mike Hughes run the centre - as a GP and Director - and they have been there for nearly 3 years now.

The community around Kisoro where the crisis centre is based is very rural and there is high incidence of child, baby and maternal deaths, plus the highest level of malnutrition on the World Health Organisation's priority list.

Esther felt inspired to do something to help when recognising how much stuff she and her friends' families had that her Aunty said they were desperate for out in Uganda. She then wrote a request for donations on facebook and was astounded by the response ... everything was packed up in massive boxes and sent to Uganda this summer.

Her Aunty sent back photos of the babies and children in the donated clothes and playing with the toys, or drinking from the bottles that were all amazingly donated by East Devon families.

The project has helped the children and centre beyond our imagination.  The 150 kilos already sent cost £900 and there's another 500 kilos of urgent supplies generously donated and ready to go!  ugandabox hope to also support the building of a rustic kitchen at Potters Village which will cost £4000, in order to help educate mums about nutrition and how to feed their families.

So.... in order to help raise further funds to achieve great things, send more supplies and hopefully help build the kitchen, there is a fab event set up for 10th October 2015.

The evening will be a fun and vibrant celebration of what can be achieved to help others; a scrumptious 3 course meal provided by the local pop up Pickle Shack company at the gorgeous venue of Froginwell Vineyard, Woodbury Salterton. Local musician Sadie Horler is doing an acoustic set, Malavita bringing latin inspired funk as the headlining band plus DJ Jon Hossack bringing the beats to end the night. Tickets are £35 per head, include fizz on arrival, wine, food and music.

Please email ugandabox@yahoo.co.uk for all details and to buy tickets. All dietary needs catered for, dancing shoes a must! 7:30pm start & carriages at midnight... Help do great things from Devon for Uganda.                                                                                                                        @ugandabox on twitter
