Housebuilder supports tree week
During National Tree Week, new research has revealed how a local housebuilder is helping to create a greener planet.
National Tree Week takes place from November 24 to December 2 and is the UK's largest tree celebration annually launching the start of the winter tree planting season.
As part of the awareness week, Barratt Homes, which is bringing new homes to Exeter through its developments such as Minerva near Exeter Science Park and Pinn Brook at Pinhoe, has shone a light on its commitment to all things arboreal.
Barratt Homes has planted or retained an impressive 30,730 trees or shrubs at its developments across the region in the last year. The figure comes from its latest socio-economic report, which looks at the five-star housebuilder’s impact on the areas in which it works.
The report also showed that Barratt Homes created 16.2 hectares of green space through public open space and private gardens – the equivalent of around 16 international rugby fields.
Sara Parker, sales director at Barratt Homes, said: “Communities are about much more than bricks and mortar and we understand the importance that trees and shrubs have to play. Planting or retaining greenery helps to support local wildlife so we’re thrilled to report such great figures for the last year.”
Barratt Homes is committed to supporting nature. It has a partnership with the RSPB, which has seen both sides set a new benchmark for nature-friendly housing developments.
