Key appointment for Exeter’s CITY Community Trust

Leading Exeter health and wellbeing charity CITY Community Trust has made a key new appointment as it continues to develop its links with the business community.

Stacey Hedge has joined the charity as business development manager.

CITY Community Trust, which is Exeter City Football Club’s partner charity, provides a range of activities to people of all ages, focused on health, education, wellbeing and physical activity.

Stacey said: ‘I’m thrilled to be joining such a great organisation doing fantastic work across the Greater Exeter area. My role will be to raise the charity’s profile in the business community and develop partnerships to help increase its reach and impact across the area.’

‘CITY Community Trust has been delivering its services to the people of the Exeter area for more than 25 years. From its origins of being purely based in football it now delivers a range of health, education and wellbeing activity, supporting some of the most vulnerable in our society.’

Stacey was formerly the business-to-business marketing executive of the award-winning apprenticeship team at Exeter College where she worked with nearly 900 businesses across the south west peninsula who take on apprentices. She was also responsible for organising the highly successful Apprenticeship Expo annual event, as well as a number of high profile business conferences and seminars.

She added: ‘I am excited to continue working with the Exeter business community as they deeply care about the people in their city. I am looking forward to talking with businesses with the way that they can get involved and support the CITY Community Trust from nominating us as their Charity of the Year, sponsorship opportunities for our fantastic events as well as getting involved with some of our challenges.’

CITY Community Trust delivers a range of programmes including Powerchair football for wheelchair users, sessions for deaf people and young people with Down’s Syndrome, as well as opportunities for men and women of all ages with mental health issues and learning difficulties.

It also works closely with other agencies to engage people who may be hard to reach, including a lunchtime football club session for homeless people. The organisation also delivers the National Citizen Service across 21 Devon schools and colleges. This summer more than 500 15-17 year olds signed up to take part in the programme. It also runs after school and holiday clubs for children aged from three years old.

The charity does not receive any guaranteed core funding; instead it relies
on trusts, grants, donations and participants signing up to its programmes to deliver its huge range of activities.
