Kids get to take control of Exeter cinema
ODEON – Europe’s largest cinema chain – has announced it is offering children in Exeter the chance take control of their local cinema, ODEON Exeter, for the day. Its only criteria is that they must be between 6 and 12 years old and know how to have fun like the banana-loving Minions.
From today until the launch of Minions on Friday June 26th, mini movie fans can visit the ODEON website and write their own ‘Mini-Manifesto’ of rules that they would implement if they were master of their cinema. The lucky winner will have the opportunity to see their demands brought to life at their own private screening of Minions for their friends and family!
The competition can be entered here, with full terms & conditions available on the page: http://dotmailer-surveys.com/711jms7f-e91biaba
ODEON has been preparing for the launch of Minions by spreading even more fun and excitement across its 124 sites, the company announcing that guests under 12 who attend an ODEON to see the new film in full Minions dress, will receive a free child ticket (with paying adult) for their next ODEON visit* over the opening weekend.
The cinema chain has also brought in record numbers of booster seats for kids, doubling its total numbers across all of their sites. This follows its highest number of family tickets pre-sold ahead of the launch of a film since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II, with its sites that offer 3D screenings of Minions also stocking up on a record number of 3D glasses for a family title.
“There were some raised eye-brows around the office when I announced we would allow a child to take control of our in-cinema entertainment, but I feel it’s a bold move that will take the fun in our cinemas to the next level,” said Andy Edge, Commercial Director at ODEON UK & Ireland. “We hope children across the country will relish the chance to become the ‘master’ of their local ODEON, and inject even more excitement into cinemas ahead of the launch of Minions.”
As well as plenty of fun for kids in cinema, ODEON will also be offering free Minions toys with its Kids Mix combo meal – with a snack, drink and kids popcorn for just £3.99 in the UK and €4.49 in ROI.
Stemming from the hugely popular Despicable Me films, Minions sees a trio of lovable yellow creates recruited by super-villain Scarlet Overkill (Sandra Bullock), who alongside her inventor husband Herb (Jon Hamm) hatches a plot to take over the world.
