Founded in 1901, Exonia Bowling Club is situated on Union Road and offers members of all abilities to play bowls in a friendly environment. The club prides itself on welcoming those of any skill level or background, including a number of homeowners at Pinnoc Mews on Bakers Way.

McCarthy and Stone’s Sales Consultant, Adrian Dyer, presented Ted Powell, President of Exonia Bowling Club, with a cheque for £250, which will help fund a specially-designed wheelchair to make the club more accessible for all.

Ted Powell said: “We are very grateful to McCarthy and Stone for its generous donation. As a club that is over 100 years old, we value our place within the Exeter community, and support from local businesses play a hugely important role in keeping our club running. The donation from McCarthy and Stone will go a long way in helping wheelchair dependent bowlers continue to visit our club.”

Geoff Bates, Head of Marketing at McCarthy and Stone Southern, added: “Here at McCarthy and Stone, we appreciate our responsibilities go further than building high-quality retirement apartments - we also seek to create a positive legacy in the communities in which we build.

“Exonia Bowling Club recognises the importance of participating in sporting and social activities at all ages, as well as fostering companionship across the generations, so it was an absolute pleasure to present this donation. The team at McCarthy and Stone’s Pinnoc Mews development wishes the club every success with their ongoing commitment to bringing bowls into the lives of people of all abilities.”

Comprising a selection of 39 one and two bedroom Retirement Living apartments, exclusively designed for people aged 60 and over, Pinnoc Mews provides everything homeowners could want for a relaxing retirement.

Pinnoc Mews features a shared lounge, which is perfect for socialising with new neighbours. Homeowners can make the most of beautiful landscaped gardens knowing all the maintenance is taken care of; and many properties also include patios or balconies, so homeowners can enjoy the outdoors from their own apartment.

A House Manager takes care of the day-to-day running of Pinnoc Mews, while a secure entry system and 24 hour emergency call system provides added peace-of-mind.
