Devon's X Factor golden boy, Luke Friend performed to a sell out crowd in The Exeter Daily Auditorium at The Exeter Phoenix last night. Nearly 500 of Luke's adoring fans, better known as his Friendies, came along to see him perform with some arriving at the venue as early as 11am.

From start to finish the atmosphere at the show was electric. Already Luke has grown and developed as a musician and as an artist, this was clear to everyone in the crowd.

The night got off to a flying start courtesy of a stunning set from 15 year old Charlotte Ward. She may have been the youngest performer on last night's line-up, but Miss Ward is also a bit of a talent show pro and has made it through to the final of national singing competition Open Mic UK which takes place next Saturday 18 January. Vocally, Charlotte was nothing short of impeccable and her abilities as an entertainer were remarkable considering her age.

Next on the bill was The Voice quarter-finalist, Adam Isaac. Since appearing on the show, which returned to BBC One tonight, Adam has toured the country gracing audiences with his incredible brand of indie-rock. But last night, he was back on home turf and his local crowd absolutely loved him. Armed only with a guitar and a pedal that made a noise comparable to an atomic bomb, Adam blew away those looking on with a set oozing with accomplishment and professionalism.

By the time Luke was introduced to the stage, the sell-out crowd had been worked into a frenzy of screaming and shouting. He performed a mix of familiar favourites from the show, other covers and his own work including one track written about Newton Abbot near Exeter.

At the end of his set, Master Friend jumped down from the stage much to the delight of his fans as they swarmed toward him in the hope that they might get closer to him.

After minutes of mayhem onstage, Luke was rejoined by his fellow artists as he, Adam and Charlotte stood together and lapped up the rapturous applause.

As the event organisers, The Exeter Daily would like to thank everyone that came along to show all of the acts their support. An Audience with Luke Friend will go down in history as one of the most incredible showcases of local talent in our great city’s history.
