Man arrested for Tiverton phoneshop burglary

An 18-year-old man has been arrested after a moible phone shop was burgled in Tiverton last week.

The Carphone Warehouse in Tiverton offered a £500 reward for information after a large number of phones were taken during the burglary.

The shop was targeted by thieves in the early hours of Thursday 23 January 2014.

Thieves gained entry to an empty property above the shop and broke through the floor into offices below.

Carphone Warehouse is offering the reward for information that leads to the conviction of those responsible for the theft of the phones, worth £3,500.

The 18-year-old man from Tiverton was arrested on suspicion of burglary and released on police bail until 27 February 2014.

Detective Constable Rachel Cole, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are keen to bring to justice those responsible for this and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

“We are pleased that Carphone Warehouse has agreed to offer this reward.

“We are following up a number of enquiries and would ask anyone who is offered a mobile phone in the next couple of weeks to call the police to ensure they are not in possession of stolen goods.”
