Man charged in suspected stabbing

Police have charged a Glasgow man William McGeough, 41 with attempted murder in the suspected stabbing on Newport road on Monday night (6 January).

McGeough and a second man, aged 45, were arrested after a member of the public reported seeing a man with blood on his face.

Emergency services arrived at the scene to find a man in his thirties with what are thought to be knife wounds.

The man remains in a serious but stable condition in RD&E hospital.

McGeough will appear in Exeter magistrates’ court later today to begin legal proceedings.
