Move More Cranbrook grants available now

Reassurance, support and positivity are at the core of the free Wellbeing Workout sessions run by a life coach for residents in Cranbrook.

And it’s thanks to these free sessions that participants have made some huge changes to their lives, resulting in promotions at work, enrolling in further study, practising gratitude, and increasing physical activity.

The first free, eight-week course took place during May and June and the second is about to begin, thanks to funding provided by Move More Cranbrook, the programme established to support those living in the town to lead healthier lives.

Matt Rowett from Move More Cranbrook said that whilst the emphasis of the programme is understandably on ‘moving more’, nurturing a person’s mental wellbeing also forms a huge and important part of the journey, which is where Wellbeing Workouts come in.

Matt added: ‘Move More Cranbrook knows that becoming more active looks different to everyone. It’s not often as simple as joining a group or taking up a sport. We know that to truly support communities to become more active, we need to support them in all areas.

“These wellbeing workouts offer people the chance to work on strategies that they could use to start their journey towards self-care.”

Gayner Harriet Taylor, the life coach responsible for this element of the programme, said she was overwhelmed by some of the changes that participants had made:

She added: “Group one has just finished and what a group they were! Their personal transformations were incredible, and I feel truly blessed to have worked with them. It’s been so heart-warming to see how the group has built one another up and created that community spirit.”

Participants from the first cohort reported feeling lighter and brighter thanks to the support from Gayner and their fellow participants.

One group member said: “Within the eight weeks I have changed jobs and enrolled on a further degree in something I have wanted to do for years. My daily routines are much healthier, I am sleeping better, eating better, and doing more exercise.”

Move More Cranbrook grants of up to £3,000 are currently available to community led projects in the area. Find out more about whether your project could be eligible, at liveandmove.co.uk/Cranbrook
