Online workshops for people with sight loss

A sight loss charity in Exeter is holding sessions on how to use the internet in the upcoming weeks.

The Royal National Institute of Bling People (RNIB) is a charity set up to support those with sight loss, and with their online today project.

76 percent of adults now access the internet everyday as found in 2014 compared to 38 percent in 2012.

The project will provide 125,000 people with the knowledge of how to get online and use the necessary technology to enable them to make the most of the internet.

The sessions are free and will be held at the Resource Centre, Devon Insight, Station House, Holman  Way, Exeter on 15 July 2016 10.00 am to 2.30 pm.

The workshops include how to make the most of products such as smartphones, tablets and eReaders. There will also be a chance to be hands-on and try out the gadgets.

Millions of people rely on the internet for banking, shopping, and email, but it is challenging for people who have sight or hearing loss.

Rebecca Jerrold from Action for Blind People said: “Being online can make a huge difference to someone’s life.

“We hope people will with sight or hearing loss in Exeter will come along and find out how technology can open up a whole new world of independence.”
