Oxfam Fundraising Group targets first £1,000 with Christmas quiz
The Exeter Oxfam fundraising team are holding a Christmas-themed pub quiz on 5th December, 7:30pm at the Puerto Lounge on Exeter Quay.
This is the third quiz that the group have held since getting started in January and they are aiming to make it the biggest and best yet, with their goal to reach £1000 total in 2017.
Entry is £4 or £3 for students, and the money raised will go directly to Oxfam’s work around the world, including the current emergencies in Yemen and with the Rohingya in Bangladesh.
There will also be a raffle, with prizes including chocolates, cinema visits and tickets to see Exeter Chiefs.
Group coordinator Ayesha Kenan said “Our last two pub quizzes went really well, with lots of support from the public, and we’re looking forward to visiting Puerto Lounge this time.
The quiz will be fun but the goal couldn’t be more important - the work that Oxfam does saves lives every day, whether it’s giving people the skills and resources to work their way out of poverty or helping a family survive a disaster.”
Ayesha continued “I’m really proud of what the group has achieved in the first year. We were all new to fundraising but our quizzes and street collections have raised nearly £700. We’d love to reach £1000 by the end of the year, so we’re inviting people to come along for a fun night out and help up support Oxfam’s work with the poorest people around the world.”
The quiz is open to everyone: bring a whole team (up to 6 people) or come along and join a team on the night. To guarantee a place teams can register by contacting Ayesha at ayeshakenan.hotmail.co.uk. For more info visit the group’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/exeteroxfamgroup
