Work on the new 60-bedroom Premier Inn on the former Elizabeth Hall site in Exmouth is scheduled to begin at the end of April.

Premier Inn is close to completing its final preparation work before starting work on site. It has concluded its negotiations with its chosen contractor and is working with East Devon District Council to fulfil the final requirements of the planning consent, before the start of construction.

Once on-site, the appointed contractors will complete the development quickly and to the highest standard, with an anticipated opening date of early 2015.

Richard Pearson, Acquisition Manager for Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants, said: “We are excited to be bringing a new hotel to the Exmouth seafront. The new 60-bedroom hotel represents significant £5 million investment in the town. It will create new jobs and attract new visitors to the local area”.

Premier Inn and East Devon District Council are looking forward to bringing a quality and contemporary hotel to Exmouth seafront. The Exmouth hotel will be one of the first in the country to contain the brand new Premier Inn room specification – including larger televisions, new bed design and improved bathrooms – a real selling point for the new hotel.

Premier Inn and East Devon District Council hope that the hotel will attract new visitors to the town, adding a high quality yet affordable hotel to this vibrant tourist destination. The new visitors to the town will use local shops, cafes and restaurants – giving the local economy a healthy boost.

Councillor Andrew Moulding, Deputy Leader of East Devon District Council and chairman of the Exmouth Regeneration Programme Board, said: “We are very much looking forward to welcoming the new Premier Inn to the seafront as part of the Exmouth vision to create an attractive 21st century destination for residents, businesses and visitors.

“Premier Inn has applied to the Local Planning Authority for some minor amendments to the original planning application before the start of work in April. This is not unusual for large developments and will not affect the building schedule. The new hotel will help to boost the tourist economy through the creation of direct and indirect jobs and increased visitors to the town”.
