A brand-new primary school has been opened at Redrow Homes’ Romansfield development in Okehampton, Devon.

St James Church of England Primary & Nursery School, for children aged two to 11, has recently opened and is situated opposite the site providing parents with the peace of mind that their little ones can walk to school safely and within a short distance.

With 13 children having already enrolled, and more expected in September, the school is helping to create a thriving community at Romansfield which only launched in February this year.

Louise Coles, area sales manager at Redrow West Country, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming families to our Romansfield development and providing them with the added bonus of having a great school on their doorstep.

“We all understand the worries that a parent has when sending their child to school, but having it on-site ensures children can safely walk there, while building their independence, under the watchful eye of their mother or father.”

The development, with prices starting from £269,995, is currently made up of two, three and four-bedroom homes from Redrow’s Heritage Collection which take their inspiration from the Arts and Crafts movement of the 1930’s.

Within easy reach of Exeter, Plymouth and the beautiful Dartmoor Park, the site, which will consist of 73 properties once complete, has recently undergone an excavation that found the archaeological remains of a Roman town.

These findings, dating back to 2,000 years ago, will soon be donated to Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery for all to enjoy, whilst a Roman Road has recently been constructed nearby the Romansfield development by local groundworker Phillip Lang.
