RockSolid Race Exeter - Go Team Hospiscare!
Thousands of runners braved the cold to take part in the RockSolid Race, an obstacle endurance race at Escot over the weekend.
Despite the freezing temperatures they queued up in their shorts and t-shirts to climb, jump and race either 5k, 10k or 15k.
Hospiscare entered three brave teams cheered on by staff from our city hospice, Searle House on the RD&E site.
After a warm up session it was off down the hill to discover what horrors lay in wait – freezing cold ponds, nearly vertical walls to climb, streams to cross, ladder bridges to crawl across, a sack race, a huge water slide, jumping off a tall scaffolding tower into a pond – what a glorious way to spend a Saturday morning!
These brave women and men, you see pictured here, were taking part because they believe in Hospiscare.
Either we’ve looked after a loved one or they are employees, friends or family.
They’re all passionate about what we do and live and breathe Hospiscare – it’s difficult not to.
When a family tells you they can never repay you for what you’ve done for their loved ones, you know you’ve done a good job and need to keep going.
Our three teams were raising money for us, as it costs £6.4m to keep our doors open and we get £1.25m from the NHS – so that’s a lot of fundraising.
Well done Team Hospiscare – great work!
