One of Devon and Cornwall Police's most senior officers will be sleeping rough for charity in Exeter this weekend along with other officers from the Force.

Assistant Chief Constable Paul Netherton will be braving a harsh Winter’s night this Saturday [March 12] by sleeping on the streets of Princesshay as part of the YMCA Sleep Easy challenge.

In full uniform, officers will be joining the Bishop of Exeter, Robert Atwell, and other volunteers to raise money for Exeter YMCA's work with young people who are homeless and to help beat youth homelessness in Exeter.

ACC Netherton said: “I am really pleased to be a part of this, we hope to raise their plight and together we can help beat homelessness in Exeter.

“I hope people can and sponsor us and together we can raise both awareness and much needed funds to support Exeter YMCA.”

The event starts at 7pm on March 12 and concludes around 7am on March 13. Anyone wanting any further information should visit www.sleepeasyexeter.org.ukor text “SLEEP” to 07535 463178 or call 01392 410530.
