South Molton Recycling Centre will re-open on Saturday 3 October, Devon County Council has confirmed.

The site has been closed since the end of June after the company which was running the site went into administration.

An agreement has now been reached with Devon Waste Management Limited to run the centre on behalf of the County Council.

From Saturday 3 October, the recycling centre will be open on Saturdays and Sundays, from 10am to 4.30pm.

Councillor Roger Croad, Devon County Council Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “We’re pleased to have reached an agreement to re-open South Molton Recycling Centre. It’s a valued local resource and it was unfortunate that it had to be closed temporarily, but we have been working hard to re-open it as soon as possible. I’m sure people will appreciate having it back up and running.”

Councillor Jeremy Yabsley, local County Councillor for South Molton Rural, said: “The large and extensive community served by the South Molton Recycling Centre will be greatly relieved to hear, as I am, that they are again able to access this much needed facility at Maclins Quarry. My sincere thanks to all involved in securing its continued operation.”

The opening weekend at the site is expected to be very busy and queues are likely. The County Council is urging users of the Recycling Centre to stagger their journeys to the site across the first few weekends of operation.
