Three cats rescued from fire

The Fire Service were called to reports of a property fire in St Pauls Road, Honiton.

Fire Control mobilised two appliances from Honiton together with one appliance from Sidmouth, .

Upon arrival crews confirmed there to be a fire in a first floor flat, crews got to work using four breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, thermal image camera and positive pressure ventilation to clear the smoke from the building.  All occupants have been accounted for.

The cause of fire is believed to be deliberate ignition, 20% of flat damaged by fire and 80% damaged by smoke.

Three cats were rescued by fire service personnel, one male was treated on scene by ambulance personnel for smoke inhalation.
