Woman stabbed in city centre attack
Police have arrested a man after a serious assault on a woman in Exeter this morning (21 October).
Police were alerted just before 10.55am after a woman was stabbed in the Bartholomew Cemetery in Bonhay Road, Exeter.
The police helicopter assisted with the search for the suspect and he was found by officers shortly after.
The 49-year-old man from Exeter was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and was taken into police custody. Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.
The victim, 34 from Exeter, has received a number of stab wounds but her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Police believe there were a number of witnesses to the incident and members of the public assisted the victim.

“We would also like to thank the members of the public who helped the woman after she was attacked.”
