Future Finance Loan Corporation has awarded a scholarship to a University of Exeter psychology student, Luke Nightingale, the third winner in a series of recipients set to receive funding as part of a wider campaign to help fund students in higher education.

Future Finance (www.financemyfuture.co.uk), the UK’s first specialist student lender, held a competition last October at the Higher and Further Education Show where attendees entered a draw to win up to £500 in a scholarship for a student of their choice.

Sean Mackney, Director of Student Education and Engagement within Academic Services at the University of Exeter, was one winner who selected Luke to receive the £500 scholarship.

In addition to working towards his degree, Luke, a mature student himself, has started a project to help raise awareness for mature students in higher education. When it comes to funding, mature students are more likely to be studying a second undergraduate degree, and so are not entitled to the same funding as other students. The scholarship money will be a great help to Luke and his cause.

Brain Norton, Chief Executive of Future Finance, commented: “We were delighted to have had such a strong response to the competition and are proud to support hard working UK students like Luke, who are undertaking socially-important degrees like psychology.

We believe that no student with the desire and ability to pursue a university education should be denied the opportunity to do so because they lack the financial resources.”
